FMCSA PSP Reports
The program helps carriers make more informed hiring decisions by providing secure, electronic access to a commercial driver’s (5) five-year crash and (3) three-year inspection history from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS).
Please Do:
Make sure you have the signed release forms BEFORE you run your driving record.
- The best practice is to upload the driving record release form to the order. That way it is easily accessible for DMV and DOT audit purposes.
Please Stop:
Pennsylvania and Washington state has their own special release form that needs to be uploaded to the driving record order BEFORE the driving record is run. PLEASE DO NOT order a PA or WA Driving record without have that release form first and available to upload.
PSP Reports require special release form that needs to be uploaded to the order BEFORE the PSP report runs – PLEASE DO NOT order a PSP Report without having the PSP Release form ready to be uploaded.
Release forms need to be hand signed or an official Electronic Signature (QuickApp or DocUSign) – release forms CAN NOT have a typed in signature or font signature. That is not acceptable for a DMV audit.
FAQ’s
YES! Before you can get a driver record for employment purposes, you must notify the individual in writing – in a document consisting solely of this notice – that a report may be used. You also must get the person’s written authorization before you ask a CRA for the report. There are legal consequences for employers who fail to get an applicant’s permission before requesting a consumer report or who fail to provide pre-adverse action disclosures and adverse action notices to unsuccessful job applicants.

Driving Records go back at least 3 years.
Yes – The Driving Record reports are DOT compliant. The DOT requires that a 3 Year MVR Report be checked within 30 days of hiring and then re-checked annually
Yes. 100% of information in the MVR comes directly from each state’s DMV. TR Information Services doesn’t have a database of drivers or manipulate any information. However, there may be mistakes or typos on the MVR. In this case the driver may need to contact the DMV to inquire.
Yes. The DMV changes regardless if the results are a “hit” or a “no hit”., If you get a record result that comes back as a “No Record Found” that means the Driving License Number, Name and or the DOB is incorrect. You will have to re-order the driving record with the corrected information.
No, we can’t process Driving Records for individual. You should contact the DMV in your state for a copy of your own driver record.
Most states will show accident information but DOES NOT show who is at fault in the accident. Do not assume that the accidents listed on a driving record are the fault of the driver. Depending on the state “Out Of State” accidents may not show up on a driving record.
