What is CDLIS Report?

CDLIS Report

The Commercial Driver’s License Information System (CDLIS) is a database administered by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).

A federal mandate requires all states to store information in CDLIS about the commercial driver’s licenses they have administered,  This nationwide database includes records by every state, and helps keep bad drivers from obtaining multiple driver’s licenses.

Why should I run CDLIS Report?

A CDLIS report allows employers to check the “Commercial Driver’s License Information System” for prior licenses, to verify their current CDL and review up to three (3) prior licenses held by the driver. The CDLIS allows employers to be compliant with FMCSA requirements (§ 391.21-391.27).

If you order a CDLIS report on a driver and find that he or she has had additional driver’s licenses in other states, you will then have the option to order another Motor Vehicle Records on that driver from the previous state. – Driving Record Release form and full SSN is required
