Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need a Signed Release Form By My Driver Before Running a Driving Record?2022-09-11T22:35:14+00:00

YES!    Before you can get a driver record for employment purposes, you must notify the individual in writing – in a document consisting solely of this notice – that a report may be used. You also must get the person’s written authorization before you ask a CRA for the report. There are legal consequences for employers who fail to get an applicant’s permission before requesting a consumer report or who fail to provide pre-adverse action disclosures and adverse action notices to unsuccessful job applicants.

Is The Information I Get Back Accurate?2019-11-17T19:19:15+00:00

Yes.  100% of information in the MVR comes directly from each state’s DMV.  TR Information Services doesn’t have a database of drivers or manipulate any information.  However, there may be mistakes or typos on the MVR.  In this case the driver may need to contact the DMV to inquire.

Do I get charged for No Hits (No Record Found)?2019-11-17T19:17:00+00:00

Yes.  The DMV changes regardless if the results are a “hit” or a “no hit”., If you get a record result that comes back as a “No Record Found” that means the Driving License Number, Name and or the DOB is incorrect.    You will have to re-order the driving record with the corrected information.

Can I Order a Driving Record On Myself?2019-11-17T19:14:04+00:00

No, we can’t process Driving Records for individual. You should contact the DMV in your state for a copy of your own driver record.

Do driving records show accidents?2016-05-11T16:29:17+00:00

Most states will show accident information but DOES NOT show who is at fault in the accident.  Do not assume that the accidents listed on a driving record are the fault of the driver.   Depending on the state “Out Of State” accidents may not show up on a driving record.
