FMCSA PSP Reports

FMCSA PSP Reports

The program helps carriers make more informed hiring decisions by providing secure, electronic access to a commercial driver’s (5) five-year crash and (3) three-year inspection history from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS).

Please Do:

  • Make sure you have the signed release forms BEFORE you run your driving record.

  • The best practice is to upload the driving record release form to the order.  That way it is easily accessible for DMV and DOT audit purposes.

Please Stop:

  • Pennsylvania and Washington state has their own special release form that needs to be uploaded to the driving record order BEFORE the driving record is run.  PLEASE DO NOT order a PA or WA Driving record without have that release form first and available to upload.

  • PSP Reports require special release form that needs to be uploaded to the order BEFORE the PSP report runs – PLEASE DO NOT order a PSP Report without having the PSP Release form ready to be uploaded.

  • Release forms need to be hand signed or an official Electronic Signature (QuickApp or DocUSign) – release forms CAN NOT have a typed in signature or font signature.  That is not acceptable for a DMV audit.

FAQ’s

How Long Do Violations or Accidents Stay on My Record2025-10-11T18:26:24+00:00

The time period varies by state.  Typically 3 to 7 years. Serious offenses such as DUIs or reckless driving can remain longer. For CDL drivers, FMCSA regulations may require employers to retain and review these records annually as part of DOT compliance.

Can Release forms be Electronically Signed?2025-10-11T17:46:14+00:00

YES.  You can use our QuickApp feature for electronic signatures, Doc-U-Sign or even a mouse signature.

Is The Information I Get Back Accurate?2025-10-11T17:46:43+00:00

Yes.  100% of information in the MVR comes directly from each state’s DMV.  TR Information Services doesn’t have a database of drivers or manipulate any information.  However, there may be mistakes or typos on the MVR.  In this case the driver may need to contact the DMV to inquire.

Does the MVR show accidents?2025-10-11T17:39:20+00:00

Most states will show accident information but DOES NOT show who is at fault for the accident.  Do not assume that the accidents listed on a driving record are the fault of the person behind the wheel.   Depending on the state “Out Of State” accidents may not show up on a the abstract at all.

Do I get charged for No Hits (No Record Found)?2025-10-11T17:47:32+00:00

Yes.  The DMV changes regardless if the results are a “hit” or a “no hit”., If you get a record result that comes back as a “No Record Found” that means the Driving License Number, Name and/or the DOB is incorrect.    You will have to re-order the driving record with the corrected information.
